Artist's Comments

A drawing based on the song: "whiskey lullaby." by Brad paisley and Allison Kraus.

The rumors flew but nobody know how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
Until the night

2nd Chorus
She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

poof! Gone happy romance. Hello blood, death and angst.

Holy crap! I procrastinated too long and now you've beaten me to the punch.

I love that song, you've done so well capturing it. I like the hair, and I especially like the blood.

Wow, I find this amazing. Sad, yet happy inn a way, looking at the end of the lyrics. I like the way the blood is the only colour.

- It is as probable for a tornado raging through a junkjard to produce Buchingham Palace, that for life to emerge from the big bang. But emerge it did.

- Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

This is at once tragic and beautiful, much like the lyrics themselves (I've never heard the song before).
The angle from which we're looking down on the woman makes it all the more powerful an image. Look at her position, and getting an overwiew of the bottles and the gun and blood all gives it a very intense and complete story. Every element is illustrated in your drawing, and not in the sense that it's all crammed in or anything like that. It's easy to look at and full of emotion- the picture, in particular, is a strong image. I love how you partially obscured it underneath her.
A little more detail might look noce on the area under and around her bed, although I can see why it would make sense not to do that (since it would attract attention to the woman and not the backgroun. All the same I think it would compliment the rest of the image a bit better.
That said, I am VERY impressed by the bed itself, and al of the detail and linework that went into it. The angle looks perfect (at the headboard), I just can't get over how realistic that looks. o.o
Fantastic job on this one, another favourite!

Remember friend as you pass by
As you are now so once was I
As I am now you soon shall be
So prepare for death and follow me.

Absolutely stunning image! Love the way you did the hair and the blood - not gorey, just... there.

That's great thank you very much, when i draw usually I pay far more attention to the figure that I tend to forget the background, also about poses, I don't use references, but often will be lying/standing/sitting in the pose myself to get the the feel of it, as I feel my body lying I can often imagine what it should look like. (It's also funny to watch me draw when my characters wear silly expressions, because I can't help but immitating them. )
